«Страна Никогда-Никогда». Волшебная страна, где дети никогда не становятся взрослыми. Питер Пэн (Peter Pan) — самый знаменитый житель этой страны. Шотландский писатель и драматург Дж. М. Барри (1860—1937) создал этот персонаж, и сегодня, когда мы хотим сказать о том, кто живёт в мире грёз или ожидает от жизни каких-либо несбыточных чудес, мы говорим, что он «живёт в стране Никогда-Никогда» (lives in never-never land). Это выражение также используется в австралийском сленге, обозначая неосвоенную, отдалённую территорию. Раньше оно употреблялось по отношению к большинству районов Австралии, а сейчас только по отношению к Центральной Австралии и её западным окраинам. Возможно, это выражение появилось оттого, что люди, отправляющиеся в эти далёкие края, думали, что они уже никогда-никогда не вернутся оттуда, или потому, что их пугали тем, что они никогда-никогда не вернутся.
